About the Instructor

Deb conducting an early spring workshop Deborah Kates is a third-generation gardener who has been gardening organically for 38 years and is a certified "Master Composter". Through the Let's Get Dirty! Learn to Love Organic Gardening program, she loves helping people understand how to grow food without synthetic chemicals so they can dig on stress release, good nutrition, exercise, saving money, optimism, and feeding the soul. Plus it's sexy, it's erotic, it's earthy! Her goal is to present information in an engaging, down-to-earth, and fun way that is accessible to all. Interest in organics is exploding because, beyond health benefits, people want to know where their food comes from in these times of unpredictable weather, economy, and food safety. And these survival skills offer a sense of security, control, and satisfaction - as well as enjoyment.

Deborah gives private group and individual talks at her home in Chester County, Pennsylvania (just west of Philadelphia), and offers Let's Get Dirty! and Let's Jam! seminars and workshops at venues in the Chester, Montgomery, Berks, and Philadelphia County areas. Her clients include employee wellness programs/series for the Chester County Government, Independence Blue Cross, Aqua America, the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Valley Forge Historical Park, the National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum, Shire Pharmaceuticals, and the Brandywine Hospital Healthy Woman group. She has also instructed for Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium, the Chester County Public Library system, Montgomery County Community College, Chester County Night School, Kimberton Whole Foods, the ACAC Fitness Center, and the Twin Valleys and Valley Garden Clubs.

"Deborah's programs are always very popular with the public. They are entertaining as well as informative. She is knowledgeable and witty, and I'm not sure which people like best – the content or her personality. I think it's close!"
